ND Hoops' D.C. Connection Started With Him...


The University of Notre Dame's Men's Basketball program has had a pipeline of talented players hailing from the Washington D.C. area -- for many a year...

It all started with a guy by the name of Bob Whitmore.  Bob, who scored the fist ever basket in Purcell Pavilion -- died this past week, after a 20 year battle with pancreatic cancer.

He had told his coach, former Notre Dame baseball coach Paul Manieri -- that he was a great hitter in high school.
