Bob Elliott -- Heaven's Team Has A Good One!

Coach Elliott lived in an apartment just down the block from our home -- we would cross paths every now and then when he would take his dog for a walk...

He was always smiling and willing to talk Notre Dame football with me -- what a very nice man.  A man you would love to have coach your kids.

Here's what a few of his Notre Dame players had to say about Coach Elliott after learning about his passing last night.

A "ND Dad" is on College Football HOF Ballot!

His name is Terrell Buckley -- college and NFL football fans will remember his exploits:

• Received the Jim Thorpe Award & Jack Tatum Trophy in 1991 as the top Defensive Back in college football
• Florida State Seminoles' all-time career interception leader with 21
• #5 overall pick by the Green Bay Packers in the 1992 NFL Draft
• Played 14 years in the NFL
• Won a Super Bowl ring with the New England Patriots

Terrell has been at Notre Dame the last few days spending time with his daughter -- a rising sophomore in the College of Engineering.  He's currently the defensive backs coach at Mississippi State University...

I had the good fortune, along with my ND colleague Drew Buscareno (the two are pictured above) to play golf with Terrell Saturday afternoon at Notre Dame's Warren Golf Course. 

Terrell's a proud Dad -- and a member of the Notre Dame Family!  I'll be rooting for him to get inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame -- see story below:

Toured New Buildings at Notre Dame Stadium

Had the pleasure this morning to tour each of the three buildings now attached to Notre Dame Stadium;  Duncan Student Center (west side), O'Neill Hall (south side) and Corbett Family Hall (east side) -- as well as the work being done to the north end of the Stadium (ND Football Locker Room) new visitor tunnel entrance, new Media Center, new Concourses, etc...

All I can say is WOW!

You will not believe all of the work that has been done -- and the world-class quality.  WOW. WOW. WOW.

Our daughter Kara and son-in-law Conor rescued Bailey (dog in photo above) a few years ago from an animal shelter in Florida -- what a joy she has brought those two.

Domer Becca Huffer Finished 11th at Tullymore

Becca Huffer '12 -- a former women's golf star at the University of Notre Dame shot a final round 69 (-3) -- her third straight under par round -- to finish in a tie for 11th at the Symetra Tour's Tullymore Classic.

Becca's (-8) score is her best of the season!

She's off to Indiana this week to play at the Donald Ross Centennial Classic at the beautiful French Lick Resort.  Tournament play begins Friday, July 7th.

Former Notre Dame's golf star Becca Huffer '12, just carded an opening round 68 (-4) at the Symetra Tour's Tullymore Classic in Stanwood, MI!

Huffer's 7 birdies and 3 bogeys has her in 10th place -- four strokes behind China's Yu Liu who had 9 birdies and one bogey during today's first round and three strokes behind 'one-time Domer' Lindsey Weaver who is at (-7).  Lindsey played for the Irish for one-year before transferring to Arizona to finish her college career.

Becca is looking for her first win on the Symetra Tour -- maybe this is the week!

Former Notre Dame wide receiver Torii Hunter, Jr.'s professional baseball career is getting its start in UTAH...

Hunter is playing centerfield for the Orem Owlz (Los Angeles Angels affiliate) in the Pioneer League -- a rookie league with an abbreviated schedule from June 19th to September 9th.

After five games -- Torii is batting .368
