To the naysayers out there who are upset Notre Dame is playing a FCS school in football for the first time -- I simply say; "get over it..."
This game is much bigger than a "fun fact" we never got any credit for in the 130+ years of Notre Dame Football.
This game is about the University of Notre Dame sharing its unique platform in sport -- shining a spotlight on an HBCU institution's football program, marching band, students, alumni, faculty and staff. It will be a significant news and sports story for a number of days in September 2023.
Tennessee State University will benefit big time as an academic institution, and an athletic program from the exposure this opportunity will bring their way -- good for them!
And, I can't wait to see TSU's Aristocrat of Bands march into Notre Dame Stadium!
The Fighting Irish had a big home win last night vs. the #5 ranked team in the country. The win puts Notre Dame's record at 28 - 7 on the season.
Beat UCLA, Duke and Kansas in the same season.
Unfortunately, the Tar Heels didn't get it done tonight...
Digger and his Fighting Irish remains the only team to do this -- during their great run during the 1973-74 season.
The Fighting Irish had one of their better games of the season on January 5th, when they beat the eventual National Runner-Up.
And, never forget the media & NCAA Tournament Selection Committee pegged this "a down year" for ACC Basketball:
Bubba Cunningham, a proud member of Notre Dame's Class of 1984 -- will be sitting courtside tonight in New Orleans, cheering on his North Carolina Tar Heels.
Cunningham has been their Director of Athletics since 2011.

It took 12 innings for the Fighting Irish to beat #5 Florida State -- 2 - 0 on this two run homer by Ryan Cole!
Major League Baseball just approved the selling of patches on their uniforms for the 2023 season. They join the NHL, NBA and the longtime player in this arena -- NASCAR. The only major hold-out is the NFL.
MLB teams will be allowed to place a corporate partner's logo on their team's helmets this season.
