'What Though the Odds Be Great or Small..."

Folks, this should go down as one of the great moments in Notre Dame Athletics' history...

You Can Call Them NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!

Notre Dame was in sixth place, going into the final relay leg -- the 1600 meters.  I can't wait for everyone to see the guts and determination of this Fighting Irish sophomore as he would not be denied...

Yared Nuguse -- is now a NOTRE DAME LEGEND!

That's him retaking the lead on the final lap --- edging out the runner from Stanford to win the DMR NCAA National Championship for Notre Dame!

Notre Dame Competes for National Title Tonight

The Notre Dame Men's Distance Medley Relay team competes tonight at 10:02 PM ET for the NCAA National Championship!  In the photo above that's Dylan Jacobs, Yared Nuguse, Sean Carlson (coach), Wayne Pate (coach), Sam Voelz and Edward Cheatham.

The Fighting Irish go into tonight's race with the fastest time in the country and the 2nd fastest time in NCAA history!

Last year, Notre Dame finished 2nd in this event at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championship.

Here's the reality -- Notre Dame's time (2nd fastest all-time) is only 3 seconds faster than the slowest team in the Final Heat -- so this is going to be quite a race!

It's Event #10 tonight -- here's the teams Notre Dame is competing with:  FINAL HEATS

Here's how a Distance Medley Relay is run:

My Dad Just Completed Lap #82 of the Sun!

This is my Dad this past April being interviewed by all-time Notre Dame great Joe Theismann during our Notre Dame Day broadcast.

Today is the 82nd birthday of the former Detroit Tiger outfielder -- who still has 18 laps to go to catch his mom -- my Grandma Small!
