Biggest Win of the Niele Ivey Era at Notre Dame!

The #15 Fighting Irish of Notre Dame went into Storrs, CT tonight and hammered the #5 UCONN Huskies 82 - 67.

The game featured a pregame celebration of the UCONN Women's National Champions as they rolled out all of their hardware and legends -- in front of a sold out crowd and a national FOX-TV audience in prime time. SEE VIDEO BELOW.

Hannah Hidalgo took over the game as did Maddy Westbeld and Sonia Citron.  What didn't get some TV-cred was the defensive effort by Sonia on Paige Bueckers.

Nice to see after the poor performance at home vs. Syracuse.

Big win for Niele Ivey and her troops.

Geno Auriemma Talks UCONN vs. Notre Dame Rivalry

Here's Why I Believe We Will Win BIG Again...

I absolutely LOVE Coach Shrewsberry's message after last night's loss to Miami.  And, I love that he sat the guys he felt wasn't giving him the effort Notre Dame deserves -- the entire second half.

Virginia won a national title in hoops a few years ago -- playing tough defense and being smart with the basketball.  They didn't have the "McDonald's All-American" talent -- they just beat you.

We can do that here at Notre Dame.

We are playing the best defense this program has seen in many a year.  Now we need to learn how to take better care of the basketball and find another player or two who can score.

GO IRISH!

OT: A Dad Who Dreamed of Coaching at Notre Dame

Tom Izzo and Steve Mariucci were high school teammates who made a famous "$5 dollar bet" years ago.

It was a wager on "who would be the first to coach a Notre Dame team."

Well, last night was a special moment for Coach Izzo -- and I found it quite ironic he mentions Laphonso Ellis and Notre Dame when talking about this special moment...
