Video Replay: Malik Zaire Postgame Interview

Replay -- Josh Adams' First Two Touchdowns!

Everett Who? Hello to the Malik Zaire Era!

19 for 22, 313 yards, 3 TD passes, 38 points and ZERO TURNOVERS!

The Malik Zaire Era at Notre Dame began with a bang tonight -- as the #11 Fighting Irish dominated a young Texas Longhorn squad 38 - 3.

On a night where starting RB Tarean Folston went down with what looks to be a serious knee injury -- the Fighting Irish rolled up more than 500 yards of offense -- while holding Texas to 163 yards.

GREAT START!

Under Armour -- We Need ND GameDay Gear!

I'm going to jump on a soap box for 77 seconds this morning...

I don't believe I'm alone when I say it is frustrating for Notre Dame fans to walk into any stadium or arena -- and see a "sea of red, orange, yellow, etc." from the opposing fan base...

Then to look around and see fellow Notre Dame fans wearing; blue, gold, green, white or black -- and looking outnumbered -- when we're not.

TELL ME -- what color pops best in the photos above?  It is not even close...

Why can't we get Under Armour to create an apparel and accessories collection called NOTRE DAME GAMEDAY GEAR!  Here's what that would look like:
  1. We pick what we'll call "FIGHTING IRISH GREEN" -- a color that says we're here, we're loud and we're proud.
  2. It would come in a number of items Under Armour makes for Notre Dame -- that you would potentially wear to a game; hats, visors, gloves, t-shirts, shirts, shorts, shoes, pants, scarfs, coats, socks, rain gear, etc.
  3. And, Notre Dame commits to this color -- FOREVER -- so fans are not forced into having to buy new Notre Dame GameDay Gear every year -- or, if we switch to another apparel partner.

Soon, every Notre Dame fan in the world would know --- it's GameDay for Notre Dame -- and this is what we wear to cheer on our Fighting Irish.  You don't have to wear it head to toe -- if the color is great -- all you need is a hat or scarf to make it POP in the stadium or arena.

It's time.

As you walk around Notre Dame's campus today -- you're going to see the fans from Texas in their burnt orange color -- and you're going to see the fans of the Fighting Irish in our blue, gold, green, white and black...

Under Armour -- please give us our FIGHTING IRISH GREEN GAMEDAY GEAR!

We need this to be what GAMEDAY -- looks like for Notre Dame -- FOREVER.

ND Alums Starting on Three Top Ranked Teams

How is this for a fun fact!

In the AP Preseason Poll you will find Notre Dame alums (Class of 2015) starting on three football teams ranked in the TOP 11 -- what other school can make that claim?
  • #7 ranked Oregon:  Matt Hegarty '15 (Center)
  • #10 ranked Florida State:  Everett Golson '15 (QB)
  • #11 ranked Notre Dame:  Joe Schmidt '15 (Linebacker), Nick Martin '15 (Center) and Amir Carlisle '15 (Wide Receiver)

Notre Dame Alum Named Oregon Ducks Starter

Former Notre Dame student-athlete Matt Hegarty '15 -- was named the starting center on the Oregon football team.

Hegarty -- a starter last year for the Fighting Irish -- was not expected to start this year for Notre Dame, so he left for Eugene seeking a starting role with the Ducks.

He joins Everett Golson as one of two Notre Dame alums -- beyond the alums playing for the Fighting Irish -- who've earned a starting role on a top-ten ranked team in the pre-season polls -- after their graduation this past May.

A great indication of the football talent in South Bend!

Holtz's Grandson a Back-Up QB for Texas

Trey Holtz, grandson of Hall of Fame Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz and son of Skip Holtz '87 -- is the starting place holder for the Texas Longhorns.

A walk-on QB -- Holtz made some noise on YouTube recently with this video linked below -- where he's "holding" for a unique field goal try.  You'll want to watch this:

Lions Trade Domer Kyle Brindza to Tampa Bay

The Detroit Lions just traded the former Fighting Irish kicker to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brindza, an undrafted rookie, made all three of his field goal attempts (51 yards, 49 yards and 41 yards), both extra-point attempts, his four punts averaged 49.3 yards and Kyle recorded touch-backs on seven of his eight kickoffs.

I would call that KICKING PERFECTION!
