The Fighting Alumni -- a team of former Notre Dame basketball players will begin the defense of their CHAMPIONSHIP in The Basketball Tournament -- tonight on ESPNU at 8 PM ET.
They won the $500,000 first prize last year -- this year it's $1,000,000 !!!
And, to add to our listening pleasure this evening -- the voice of Notre Dame men's basketball Jack Nolan and the head coach of the Fighting Irish Mike Brey will be handling the play by play and analysis of the game. Should be fun!!!

Former Notre Dame women's basketball player and coach -- Coquese Washington '93, '97 -- was recently named president of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
Coquese is the first African American ever elected to lead the WBCA. She earned an undergraduate degree and a law degree from the University of Notre Dame.
Washington is currently the head women's basketball coach at Penn State University.
Former Notre Dame hoops star Natalie Achonwa '14, led her Canadian teammates to a win last night over the United States in the Pan-American Games for their first ever gold medal in basketball!
That's Natalie (uniform #11) seconds after the win last night in Toronto.
There's a number of DOMERS in Lake Tahoe, NV this weekend playing in the American Century Championship for celebrity golf.

Former Notre Dame basketball / baseball star Pat Connaughton '15, played his second professional hoops game Sunday night in Las Vegas in the NBA Summer League.
Pat had a better night -- scoring 11 points on 4 for 10 shooting -- including 2 for 5 from behind the three-point arch. He also grabbed six rebounds (second most on the team).
If you click on the link below you'll see a beautiful drive down the lane by Connaughton leading to a three-point play.
Found this interesting -- in game #1 Pat was listed as a Guard -- in game #2, Pat was listed as a FORWARD.
Notre Dame's most prolific chemistry professor, Emil, T. Hofman left for heaven yesterday morning at the age of 94. Hofman taught more than 32,000 Notre Dame students.

Former Notre Dame hoops star Jerian Grant '15, played his first game in a New York Knicks uniform yesterday afternoon in Las Vegas in a NBA Summer League Game against the San Antonio Spurs.
Jerian made one shot from the floor (a three-pointer -- see it in the video link below) and he made 9 of 10 free throws -- to total 12 points for the game. Here was his stat line:
