Notre Dame to Play Ohio State in CCHA Semis

The #12 Fighting Irish of Notre Dame will play the "un-ranked" Ohio State Buckeyes this Friday afternoon at Joe Louis Arena in the semi-finals of the CCHA HOCKEY TOURNAMENT.

Miami of Ohio will play Michigan in the other semi-final.  The winners will play Saturday for the honor of being the last CCHA Champion!

Notre Dame and Ohio State last played back in February in Columbus -- with the Buckeyes winning 6 - 3 the first night and the two teams playing to a 2-2 OT time the next night -- with the IRISH winning the shootout for the extra point.

Should be a good crowd in the Motor City!

Know Thy Opponent -- Iowa State Cyclones

It didn't take long for ALL of the talking heads at ESPN to pick Iowa State over ND -- probably the best news we could get!!!

Some quick facts:
  • 22 - 11 season record
  • The Cyclones are 6 - 4 their last 10 games
  • Four starters score in double figures -- led by Will Clyburn at 15.0 pts. per game

It's On to the NCAA Tournament For Our IRISH

Having played a little basketball in my day -- I can tell you I wouldn't want to play against Louisville.  Full court pressure -- for the entire game -- that's not fun for the guys handling the ball.  And, if you watched last night's game -- that relentless defense wore our guys down.

It's time to put that game in the rear view mirror and on to the NCAA...

ND will find out tomorrow night -- who they play and where they play.  Can't wait!

Muffet's Irish "One and Done" With New Gear

Well, the new uniforms that Adidas provided the Notre Dame women's basketball team (photo above) are history...

Adidas provided a number of schools with a new uniform combination to wear for their conference tournaments and the NCAA tournaments -- Notre Dame was one of those schools.

The Irish wore the new gear in their opening round game in the Big East Tournament Monday night -- however, the team voted after the game -- not to wear them again.  Notre Dame donned their regular home uniform combination in the win last night over Louisville.

It will be interesting to see what Mike Brey's team does -- will they wear the new uniform combination tomorrow night at Madison Square Garden?

PS:  I have to admit I like the jersey top on its own and I like the shorts -- on their own.  Together, not so much...
