It was interesting that the first Carrier Classic was on the USS Carl Vinson, an active duty carrier. This iteration is on the USS Yorktown, which is now a museum and retired from service in 1970. Syracuse and San Diego State are playing their own version of the Carrier Classic on Sunday on the USS Midway, another retired carrier (decommissioned in 1992) located in San Diego. This match won't be part of the official Carrier Classic brand, however.
