My Dad, a Former Detroit Tiger Turns 80 Today!


My Dad (his rookie card with the Detroit Tigers above) -- Jim Small -- just completed his 80th lap around the Sun today!  Happy Birthday Dad!

One of my two favorite poems is this below -- and a "name" is what my Dad gave me many years ago...

Your Family Name

You got it from your father
It was all he had to give
So it's yours to use and cherish
For as long as you may live

If you lost the watch he gave you
It can always be replaced;
But a black mark on your name
Can never be erased

It was clean the day you took it
And a worthy name to bear
When he got it from his father
There was no dishonor there

So make sure you guard it wisely
After all is said and done
You'll be glad the name is spotless
When you give it to your son

Since Big East Days: ND and UConn are 145 - 2


This is the combined conference records for UCONN and Notre Dame women's basketball teams since leaving the Big East Conference after the 2012-13 season...

Notre Dame is 74 - 2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference and UCONN is 71 - 0 in the American Athletic Conference.

Knowing the level of competition in each conference -- Muffet's conference run is more impressive than Geno's...

Domer -- NBA's President of League Operations


Former Notre Dame offensive tackle Byron Spruell left his 20-year distinguished career at Deloitte to head up operations at the National Basketball Association...

He's since been promoted to President of League Operations for the NBA.

Notre Dame heads to Brooklyn, NY this week to play in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament as the THREE SEED!

Notre Dame will play their first game on Thursday at 9 PM ET on ESPN -- the opponent will be either Virginia, Georgia Tech or Pittsburgh.

Win that game and they'll play Florida State, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest or Boston College, Friday night at 9 PM ET for a ticket to the Championship game Saturday night...

The Irish are 7 - 3 against the teams standing in their way of a return trip to the ACC Tournament Championship game.
