Notre Dame's "Best Tight End" of All-Time?
We have had many talented tight ends in Notre Dame's football history:
- One is a Heisman Trophy Winner -- Leon Hart
- One is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame -- Dave Casper
- We have multiple College Football Hall of Famers, who played tight end
- We have multiple Super Bowl Champs, who played tight end
- And, we've had multiple All-Americans & NFL All-Pros who played tight end
However, I do believe it's not a stretch to say Michael Mayer's has had the greatest 2.5 seasons for a Notre Dame tight end -- EVER!
Let's see how it all ends up for Mayer.

Our friends in the media and coaching ranks -- are once again showing their true colors...
Notre Dame's back to back wins over North Carolina and BYU have received little to no recognition from members of the media and head coaches everywhere. In fact, both teams are ranked ahead of Notre Dame in this week's AP Poll and Coaches Poll.
Here's the latest AP Poll rankings released on Sunday:
- #26 North Carolina
- #27 Baylor
- #28 BYU
- #29 Coastal Carolina
- #30 NOTRE DAME
How North Carolina fared against Notre Dame:
- Lost to Notre Dame: 45 to 32
- Points scored vs. Notre Dame: 32 pts. / season average: 42.3 pts.
- Total Yards vs. Notre Dame: 367 yds. / season average: 501 yds.
How BYU fared against Notre Dame:
- Lost to Notre Dame: 28 to 20
- Points scored vs. Notre Dame: 20 pts. / season avg: 32 pts.
- Total Yards vs. Notre Dame: 287 yds. / season average: 417.8 yds.
OT: #1 Ferris State vs. #2 Grand Valley State
It's the "game of the year" in NCAA Division II Football and it takes place this Saturday in Big Rapids, MI at 1 PM ET.
I have to admit, I was hoping the folks at College GameDay might decide to break from tradition and take their show to a Division II campus...
Well, this Saturday the #1 ranked Ferris State Bulldogs -- the defending national champs and their 43 game regular season winning streak -- take on the #2 ranked Grand Valley State Lakers!
This game -- two schools less than an hour away from each other by car -- has turned into one of the top rivalries in the country. Should be fun to watch!

Met This Family On Flight to Las Vegas...
I had the honor of sitting next to David & Jess Runyan -- Notre Dame fans from the Michiana area -- on the flight Thursday from Grand Rapids, MI to Las Vegas...
They were part of a group of 18 members of the Notre Dame Nation -- all gathering in Las Vegas for our game vs. BYU. They rented a suite at the Raiders' Allegiant Stadium and they even designed their own t-shirt for the trip (bottom image). Jess even painted her finger nails for the celebration...
Thought you'd enjoy their experience.
