Number of Penalties Called in College FB Playoffs

Here's a look at the "officiating" over all the College Football Playoffs -- one of the four teams left has overcome the greatest discrepancy in penalties called versus the other three reams.

College Football Playoffs Total Penalties By Teams:

• Notre Dame: 16 -- two games
  
• Penn State:  16 -- two games
  
• Boise State:  13
  
• Texas:  12 -- two games
  
• SMU:  7
• Indiana:  6 
• Tennessee: 6 
• Arizona State:  6
  
• Ohio State:  5 -- two games
  
• Clemson:  5
  
• Georgia: 5
• Oregon: 3

 

The largest discrepancy in any of the Playoff Games to dates was the Notre Dame vs. Georgia game where the Fighting Irish were called for 10 penalties to Georgia's 5.  The officiating crew was from the Big 12 -- and we'll see them again in the Orange Bowl vs. Penn State

Penn State was called for 10 penalties in their win over Boise State -- a game where Boise was called for 13 penalties.

Here's the (+ / -) on penalty calls after the first two games in the College Football Playoffs of College Football's Final Four:

• Notre Dame -- six more penalties called on the Irish
• Texas -- one more penalty called on the Longhorns
  
• Penn State -- four fewer penalties called on the Nittany Lions
  
• Ohio State -- four fewer penalties called on the Buckeyes
