The namesake of Green Bay's Lambeau Field is none other than former Notre Dame running back Curly Lambeau -- who just happened to score the first ever touchdown in Knute Rockne's legendary career, during the 1918 football season. Unfortunately, Lambeau came down with a very bad case of tonsillitis, after the season, that forced him to withdraw from Notre Dame and return home.
The very next year he co-founded the Green Bay Packers. And from 1920 to 1949 he was the Packers head coach (and played too, the first ten seasons earning All Pro honors 3x).
