Muffet's Biggest Coaching Challenge in 10 Yrs.

Last night -- the greatest scoring starting five in college basketball history, ended their college careers with a combined 10,228 points.

The hard reality is Notre Dame Women's Basketball will return only 10.6 points per game for the 2019-20 season -- with the announcement this evening that Jackie Young will be leaving early to purse her dream of playing in the WNBA.  Here's the returning roster along with the two incoming recruits -- and their points per game average:
  • Katlyn Gilbert -- 5'-10" guard
  • Mikayla Vaughn -- 6"-3" forward
  • Daniella Patterson -- 6'-2" forward
  • Jordan Nixon --5'-8" guard
  • Abby Prohaska -- 5'-10" guard
  • Danielle Cosgrove --6'-4" forward
  • Nicole Benz -- 5'-8" guard
  • Kaitlyn Cole -- 5'-10 guard
  • Anaya Peoples -- 5'-10" guard
  • Samantha Brunelle -- 6"-2" forward

With a projected roster of only eight scholarship players -- and two walk-ons -- I've got to believe that Muffet & Company are looking hard at transfer candidates.

Early guess as a starting five next year:
  • Jordan Nixon -- McDonald's All-American, ranked #38
  • Mikayla Vaughn -- ranked #56
  • Samantha Brunelle -- McDonald's All-American, ranked #4
  • Abby Prohaska -- ranked #73
  • Danielle Patterson -- McDonald's All-American, ranked #30
This projected starting five has a combined 477 points in their college careers...

First two off bench:
  • Katlyn Gilbert -- McDonald's All-American, ranked #27
  • Anaya Peoples -- McDonald's All-American, ranked #21

Trust me -- many college coaches would love to have FIVE McDonald's All-Americans on their roster.

It's going to be FUN to watch how this in-experienced team comes together.
